Decolonized Arabesques

Decolonized Arabesques is a chamber work in two movements exploring traditional Arabic forms and intonation. The 2nd movement is titled Canons and Fugue on Qadukka al-Mayyas and explores the contrapuntal possibilities in this traditional song on Maqam Hijaz.

The recording is performed by Daniel Whitworth, Nathaniel Sattler, Emmett Jackson, Ethan Valentin Decolonized Arabesques by Nebal Maysaud (2018).
